Rules

I had hoped that we would not need to go here officially, but it seems that we might need to. For the most part, this blog has
remained self-policing, but recent comments have led me to believe that the rules might need to be codified. After discussions with the authors, the following rules were agreed upon.

1. No racists, bigoted or hate speech allowed. Results in instant banning. No warnings.

2. No exposing a person’s real life persona. This should be a place where people can speak their minds without fear of repercussions in the real world. If a person chooses to use their real name of expose where they work, that is their choice. Otherwise, you may not ‘expose’ them. Exceptions include double agents. For instance, if a worker at a party headquarters comments while pretending to be a supporter of the other side.

3. If you must attack, attack the argument, not the person. Simple example:

You are the dumbest person ever. [BAD]

That is the dumbest argument ever. [BETTER]

I don’t think you thought that argument though very well. [BEST]

4. Discuss the arguments on their merits without ascribing motivations as a way to discredit the argument. Simple example:

Liberals are against this war because they hate America and want to see us
fail.
Conservatives only care about their own selfish agenda and don’t care how many soldiers die.

A racist comment will result in an instant ban, no warnings. Exposing one’s real life persona will get your comments removed. Repeated attacks will result in a warning then a ban. Attacking motivations will result in a wag of the finger.
